What an Autumn for the 4T Squad!
We have returned to Wellington Leisure Centre and taken full advantage of being in a 25m pool and 6 lanes all to ourselves.
Monday Night 7-8pm
Juliette has been challenging swimmers with 200m reps, sculling and pursuing the ever-elusive high elbow. Becca has been developing our 4T Tigers with the juniors establishing their 50m and 100m best times to kick off winter training.
Thursday Night 7.30-8.30pm
Frances has been working with swimmers to develop strength in the front crawl stroke with the return of the press up pyramid, much loved by all. Bea has taken on 2 lanes for a stroke development squad, and during the last 6 weeks she has been focusing on catch, the first phase of the front crawl stroke. Bea has been working with swimmers individually to improve their stroke and develop their feel for the water. Bea will be continuing her stroke development squad through the winter as she is now a Qualified L2 BTF Coach. Well done Bea!
Sunday Morning 8-9am
Frances has been brushing (or rather blasting) the cobwebs away with speed work and some fun intervals to challenge swimmers. We will have the return of the T-shirt in December so make sure it's in your swim bag in preparation for some tasty morning swims.
1:1 Sessions: We are BUSY
We are super excited to have brand new members starting their journey and looking to improve their confidence in the water for events in 2025. We have just released new dates for 1:1 sessions, so be sure to check out the booking page and send Frances a message to secure your slot.
New members have received a club bottle, hat, haribo and gels. I think both adults and juniors alike have been more excited about the haribo than anything else, so we shall continue the trend; with the launch of our new kit in January 2025 you shall also receive a bitesize pack of your favorite sweet!
Lets' Celebrate a few Successes and Events!
Ironman Croatia:
After a turbulent year and plenty of procrastination, Dave completed Ironman Croatia in such brilliant form that the support team missed his finish! While Paul was working out whether Dave would cross the line in time and Bea was chatting to a very nice Spaniard, Dave had done a fantastic run to complete the run well under predicted times! Finding his support team at the hotel he questioned where they had been when he crossed the finish line in trimuph. They said the Ironman tracker was malfunctioning (perhaps the team were enjoying the sunshine), Dave believes he was far too quick for the team to keep up! CongratsDave on a brilliant race!
Ironman Wales
James has conquered open water swimming this year to compete in Ironman Wales, and compete he did with a finish in under 13hrs on one of the most challenging ironman courses. Incredible!
Greg not only took on Ironman Wales but a few weeks before completed the Windermere Lake Swim – 11 miles end-to-end – and victories in the Cotswold swims too - Congratulations on a brilliant swimming season – we look forward to seeing you in the open water in 2025.
Ironman Weymouth 70.3
Jim completed his first 70.3 this year at Ironman Weymouth, with a very busy work schedule involving international travel her worked exceptionally hard to balance training, life and work. He successully completed Weymouth in 5:35, with a bike PB to boot! At the start of the year, and even mid-season Jim was convinced he wouldn't finish under 6hrs, but he trusted in the process and it really paid off. Congratulations on a really solid race and first 70.3. We now look ahead to London Marathon in April and some Olympic Distance Triathlons in the summer. Bring on 2025.
Minehead end of season Sprint Triathlon
This fabulous local event saw Philippa, Paul, Jim, Emellia, Frances, Simon, Suzanne and many others who have trained with 4T this season complete in the last tri of the year, ably supported by Noel with his social media hat on! A fantastic final race of the season and well-earned fish and chips post-race. Becoming a yearly end of season race, we will be there next year!
Run in the Dark
Emellia hosted and organised Run in the Dark a 10km canal run, with many of the participants dragged out of the pool for a change. As only Emellia can, she has taken an international 10km race and made it her own, gathering local women to run along a canal as a team. It's a very fun evening with a cheeky J2O in a pub to finish off the night. Well done Emellia, Frances, Phillippa, Alice, Lou and Heidi for taking on the challenge!
