CSS Testing
Good Evening 4T Team, we have had a busy few weeks!
Last week swimmers completed the Spring CSS test, which involved a timed 400m, 200m, and 100m, with a couple of swimmers completing an additional 50m for fun. The times by all were incredible, with PBs from many, new members jumping in the deep end and taking on the challenge (well done Denis) and others pushing themselves out of their comfort zones to cover a distance they couldn't do before Christmas (epic work Doug). Each week everyone has been working hard to develop their stroke to become fitter, stronger, and faster. The times from the CSS tests really do reflect your hard work over Winter. Well done all!
We can now use these times within sessions to develop that all-important aerobic threshold for upcoming races. Special shout out to our Junior Coach Ollie who led his first CSS test with two of our adult lanes.
Swimming maths is a whole world.......
Club Kit
The new club shop is now LIVE on the website!
We are super excited that you can now purchase the new club swim hats, they look spectacular in bright blue, pink, purple and white.
They will make their debut this coming Sunday and are available via the website.
Keep an eye out in April for the fresh designs for the club hoodies, t-shirts and bobble hats to keep us warm in those early season open water swims.
The mens jammers order has been submitted and will be modeled on poolside early April. We are working hard behind the scenes to bring you unique, colourful and durable club kit that you can wear porudly at training sessions, races and events this year.
Torbay Team Relay
On Saturday, April 5th, for the third consecutive year, we proudly have two dedicated teams participating in the highly anticipated Torbay Team Relay. Each team member will confidently tackle a 300m swim, 6km bike, and 2km run before handing over to their teammate. This annual event is a highlight in our club's calendar, with prizes for the fastest swim, bike or run leg and those all important transitions. Last year, Bea set the record for the fastest T1. Will anyone surpass her this year?
We will be going for a dip in the sea post race so anyone who is coming down to cheer please join us for a dip and dinner post race.
Keep an eye out for Open Water...
As we move towards Easter, we are looking forward to the start of open water swimming. With a number of athletes taking part in the Nottingham Outlaw in May and the Cotswolds 113 on the first weekend in June, acclimatisation is key for these early season races.
We will begin open water swimming at the end of April, with the first session on Tuesday, April 29th, from 6:00-8:00 PM, and Saturday, May 3rd, from 9:00-11:00 AM.
We anticipate the temperatures being in the mid to low teens, so make sure you bring your warm cozy clothing for after, as well as that all-important hot chocolate or coffee and, of course, cake.
A kit list will be posted in April's newsletter, so keep an eye out for next month's hints and tips to thrive in your first open water swim of the year.
Thank you as always for your support, continued commitment and enthusiasm to swim, bike run!
I look forward to seeing you all poolside or river side.
