Turkey Swim Camp
Testing Conditions, Valuable Lessons
This year’s camp was shaped by daily winds of 15mph, peaking at 31mph. Instead of hindering progress, the conditions became central to learning. Swimmers focused on adapting technique to waves- whether head-on, sideways, or behind.
Our coaches adjusted plans daily, scouting the sea early by foot or bike.
The afternoons involved 1:1 pool coaching to develop their technique and efficiency before testing it in the changing conditions in an evening skin dip.
Island Challenge: Teamwork in Action
Midweek, swimmers circled a local island, facing varied conditions that tested their skills. Working in pods, they used sighting and landmarks to stay on course. Every swimmer completed the 2.5km loop- a testament to pod teamwork
Reflections
Camp 2025 was as much about mental resilience as physical performance. Swimmers learned to read the water, trust their skills, and support each other. It was a tough but rewarding week.
Thanks to everyone who made it a success- we’re already excited for next year!
The dates for the 2026 Camp will be released shortly, keep an eye on the socials so you can book your spot for next years' swim camp!!
Member Updates
Lou and Fiona completed Nottingham Outlaw 70.3 Triathlon on the 18th of May both with stellar performances and still smiling at the end. Having had a well earned race they are now looking forward to what the rest of the season will bring. A sprint triathlon or perhaps a couple of open water swims......
One of our regular pool swimmers, Phillipa, has just returned from an incredible cycling journey across Spain!
Setting off on 30th April and returning 24th May, she covered an astonishing 1,109 miles (1,785 km) in total—an adventure that took both determination and serious pedal power.
Her main route spanned 967 miles from Málaga to Santander, with an additional 142 miles clocked cycling from home to Bristol Airport and from Plymouth back home on her return.
And if that wasn’t impressive enough- on day five, while in Seville, she casually completed a 10km run… just for fun!
Welcome back, Phillipa- what an achievement! 🏅
Paul competed in the British Triathlon Championships in Burley completing the Olympic distance and getting PBs across all 3 disciplines, putting together an incredible race for his second ever Olympic Triathlon.
Heidi’s Back – With Exciting News! 🌍💆♀️
After a year of traveling and exploring the world, our lovely swimmer Heidi is returning to us this July, and we couldn’t be happier to have her back in the water.
But that’s not all… Heidi will also be launching her own Sports Massage business, bringing a whole new skillset to our community. With her background in sport and firsthand understanding of training and recovery, she’s perfectly placed to help others stay healthy, strong, and injury-free.
We’re really excited to support Heidi in this new venture, so if you could take 2 minutes fill out her survey to help create the best service, that would be wonderful.
River Swimming
We've had a brilliant start to the season with water consistantly between 17 and 20 degrees. Open water swimming has a way of bringing people together. It’s unpredictable, energising, and endlessly rewarding. From early morning dips to evening swims, it offers a completely different pace and perspective.
This season, our swimmers have been embracing the challenge, pushing themselves in training and preparing for some iconic events, including the Tenby Long Course Weekend, the Hurley Burly, the Burgh Island Swim, and the Dart 10km.
It’s inspiring to see so many of our swimmers setting big goals, stepping out of their comfort zones, and discovering just how much they’re capable of in open water.
If you haven’t tried it yet, now’s the time.
Tuesday evenings 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday morning 9:00-11:00am.
Pre Order Open for Club Kit - Closing Date 6th July!
You’ve seen our coaches wearing it- now it’s your turn!
Our brand new club kit is available to order, and we’re excited to share what we’ve been working on.
We’ve partnered with The Big Bobble Hat Company to create bold, colourful, and durable gear designed to keep you warm before and after training, during races, or just on a chilly afternoon outdoors.
🌈 Tie-dye hoodies and t-shirts – Each one is individually dyed, meaning no two are exactly the same. These pieces are truly one-of-a-kind and full of personality.
⚪ Smart white and soft lavender tees – Featuring the club logo, these are perfect for events or everyday wear.
💜 Dark purple hoodie – Designed with comfort in mind, this hoodie has a thick, warm hood and a high neckline to block out wind and keep you cosy post-swim.
Our goal was to create high-quality, distinctive kit that represents our club spirit-bright, bold, and built to last.
We can’t wait to see you all repping the kit at training and races this season!
Shout outs for June and July!
